How Faith is helping us grow with Downs

My baby is growing up!!!  She started pre-school this week and I was a nervous ninny.  The first day I went to drop her off and when she realized that I was going to leave she clamped onto my arm and locked her legs around my waist and shook her head and said “No, no, no, no, no…”  I got even more worried and started talking to her teacher about my concerns around eating, drinking and sleeping  (socializing, playing and communicating I am not worried about at all).  Anyway, while I am talking to her teacher, Sydney start wiggling to get down.  I put her down and off she goes with her almost evil sounding laugh (when she gets really excited) and ran to play with the kids.  She was fine, so I snuck out.

That afternoon I picked her up and she saw me and RAN towards me with a smile and her arms up!  I was SOOOOO happy to see that!  She has had a GREAT three days and her teachers just adore her.  I was proud when the teacher said that she ate fine, drank from a cup with a straw all day, and took a nap (sans bottle).  The BEST part was when the teacher said that Sydney not only ate her lunch (which I was concerned since she is picky) but she at with her fork and spoon and ate with better manners than her peers.  Woo Hoo!!  Go Sydney!

It’s amazing how different they can be at school from at home with their eating habits. Brayden won’t eat any meat or eggs at home but at school, he eats whatever they put in front of him. I’m so glad it’s going well for Sydney at school!

Woohoo is right! I’m happy that she is adjusting well to school, BUT I’m sad that she is growing up so fast.
Love to you and my “big girl”,

Awesome. What a relief for you, I’m sure. I am already nervous thinking about preschool next year… This 0 to 3 stage is so easy in many ways. I’m glad Sydney will help show us the ropes.

Hi, just found you from FB and could not help but come over and read more of the post with your beautiful daughter on the cover. I have a daughter named Sydney as well and my son, Sam, has a little something extra also.

I look forward to reading more about your precious family. :)

Oh, I just love this photo, Jeanette! School is a wonderful thing. For all the worrying we do, it’s always like no big deal for the kids! I’m so glad it went well. I always feel so horrible on the days when Sammi can’t go to school because she’s sick or because of snow (like now!) because she can’t go play with her friends. :-(
